Six questions. The unflattering answer is the useful one. This is what decides whether a system sticks or gets quietly abandoned in month three, which is why it carries the score on its own.

Q1 · The target

Is there one specific job you would hand off tomorrow if you could?

Automating everything at once stalls. A clear target is the difference between a system that ships and a project that drags.

Q2 · The records

Are your customers, jobs and finances tracked in software you can actually query?

Books in an accounting system, customers and jobs in something searchable. Basic is fine. Systems build on records and cannot build on memory.

Q3 · The reviewer

Is there a person who could read drafts and approve them before they go out?

Everything we build ships through a human check. That person needs minutes, not hours, but they do need to exist.

Q4 · The playbook

Is any of how you work written down, even roughly?

Checklists, templates, an onboarding email somebody reuses. Written-down process is fuel; systems learn your way of working from it.

Q5 · The hour

Could leadership spare one hour a week for the first ninety days?

Not to build anything. To look at what the system produced and say "right" or "wrong." That hour is what makes the results trustworthy.

Q6 · The trail

When a job closes, does anyone record what happened and what it took?

A short note, a field in your job records, a line in a spreadsheet. Without it you cannot tell whether any system actually helped.

What this is

A first read, not a verdict

Two minutes cannot see your margins, your systems, or your team. What they can see is the shape of readiness: repetition worth removing, records to build on, and a person with the time to stay in charge of it. That is enough to tell you whether to start and roughly where, which is more than most owners have when they buy their first tool.

What it cannot tell you is what any of it is worth in your business. Nothing on this page ranks one job against another in dollars, because ten clicks have no way to know.
